Your customers pick their motorcycle, open the exploded parts diagram for the assembly they are working on, click the number on the drawing, and add the exact OEM part to the cart your store already uses. No separate catalog site, no phone call to the parts counter, no guessing at a part number.

Each callout number printed on the drawing maps to a row in the list, and each row carries the OEM part number, the description, and the quantity used in that assembly. The word itself is a leftover from microfiche: before parts catalogs moved onto computers, dealers stored those drawings as photographic sheets and read them on a lit magnifying reader bolted to the parts counter.
Microfiche became the electronic parts catalog (EPC) — first a disc, then a desktop program, then a hosted web application. Same drawings, same illustrated parts list (IPL), delivered as software instead of film. The vocabulary never moved on. A parts manager still says "pull it up on the fiche", and a rider searching at 11pm still types the name of their bike followed by the word fiche rather than "exploded parts diagram". If a dealer's website never uses the word, the people looking for it have a harder time finding the dealer.
The distinction that matters is who the tool is built for. Counter microfiche and DMS-integrated catalogs are made for a trained parts person: dense, fast, keyboard-driven, and aimed at producing an accurate picklist that gets keyed into the dealer management system. Their success measure is staff throughput.
An online fiche is made for the customer. It has to load on a phone, explain itself with no training, show a price and an availability state, and end in a cart. Its success measure is orders placed without anyone from the dealership touching them. Those are two different products, and most dealerships need both. This page is about the second one — the fiche that lives on your public storefront.

OEM part numbers get replaced constantly. When an older number has been superseded, the replacement path points at the current SKU, so the shopper lands on something orderable instead of a dead catalog number and an empty results page. A fiche sheet designed for a lit desktop reader is close to unusable when it is simply scaled down to a six-inch screen. The mobile diagram viewer is touch-friendly, which matters more than it sounds when most parts browsing happens in a garage with a phone in one hand. Some things a dealer sells have no OEM drawing: a plastics kit, an accessory line, a workshop assembly built from parts that live in different fiche sections. Custom diagrams cover those cases with the same numbered-hotspot behavior as an OEM fiche, where they have been set up for the dealer.

Which brands, models, and diagrams appear on your storefront depends on the dealer's authorized catalog and on the product mapping behind it — the same condition that applies to every capability described on the features page. Parts Finder Software is not an official application of KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Beta, Sherco, or any other vehicle brand, and does not represent them. Dealers must be authorized and must hold the rights to the catalog, diagram, document, pricing, and stock data they display.

The documented storefront modules are built primarily around Shopify, using its catalog, product, and cart context. The app is listed as KTM Parts Finder Connector on the Shopify App Store.
The parts finder mounts into a page through a single container element — partsFinderRoot — with the dealership domain and
country code as attributes, plus one script and one stylesheet. Custom storefront work is assessed separately.

"Fiche software" covers three genuinely different product categories. They are not ranked; they solve different problems, and plenty of dealerships run one from each.
Electronic parts catalogs used by trained staff at the parts counter and inside the dealer management system — ARI PartSmart, HLSM online microfiche, Fiche for DX1 and similar. Broad multi-brand archives, built for picklist accuracy and counter speed.
Dealer-website vendors that bundle a consumer-facing eCatalog into a hosted site. The rider self-serves the diagram, and the catalog comes as part of the website package, on that vendor's platform.

ASM Shop, a Norwegian motorcycle dealer, moved from manual, offline ordering and clunky desktop schematics to interactive fiche diagrams with automatic stock alignment. Twelve months after the rollout: monthly e-commerce sales grew 15x, the customer returns rate fell from 12% to 1.75%, mobile checkout conversion went from 0.82% to 6.35%, and pre-sales fitment tickets dropped by 45%.
